INDUSTRIAL EMERGENCY SERVICES, LLC (IES) TO CONDUCT DISASTER PREVENTION SEMINAR MARCH 28 & 29 2001

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas --- Industrial Emergency Services, LLC, (IES) has announced that it will conduct a two-day Disaster Prevention seminar in March of 2001. The seminar will be held in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the Louisiana State Police Training Academy.

The seminar is aimed at operations, maintenance, safety, and environmental managers and technicians employed in the refining, chemical and other high-hazard industries. Public officials responsible for emergency planning and response to those facilities should also find the seminar valuable.

According to IES President & Fire Chief Bob Andrews, "If we do not learn from our past mistakes, we are bound to repeat them. This Disaster Prevention seminar will present basic principles in good plant design and maintenance, proper emergency preparation, and review new technology. With the significant change of personnel in our industry it is important that good disaster prevention and control fundamentals are not forgotten".

The seminar will use a lecture, case study, and panel discussion format. Instructors will be from IES’ command staff as well as from local industry, local emergency management, and the Louisiana State Police.

IES’ United Kingdom-based Chief Fire Officer Barry Browning will also be a lecturer at the seminar. Chief Browning represents IES in the United Kingdom, Europe, the Middle East and the Pacific Rim. According to Andrews, "Chief Browning is an extremely capable and entertaining speaker. He brings an entire career of emergency response and loss prevention experience to the classroom". Browning retired from Exxon’s Fawley, England refinery after 39 years of service. He was the Chief Fire Officer at the refinery for over 30 years.
