Anthrax

DOD: Anthrax
The official DOD site for the Anthrax Vaccine Immunization Program (AVIP). Offers discussion about the particulars of Anthrax and safety measures available to the general public. The site offers a good FAQ section plus additional resources for further study.

CDC: Anthrax
CDC, Division of Bacterial and Mycotic Disease Information site discusses the key issues about anthrax as used as a weapon of mass “disruption”:

What is anthrax? Why has anthrax become a current issue? How common is anthrax and who can get it? How is anthrax transmitted? What are the symptoms of anthrax? Can anthrax be spread from person-to-person? How is anthrax diagnosed? Is there a treatment for anthrax? These and many more issues are addressed on this informative site.

Hopkins
The Center for Civilian Biodefense Studies site features fact sheets with information and concise diagnostic criteria and Treatment Guidelines for Anthrax, Botulism, Smallpox, Plague and Tularemia.

FDA: Anthrax Vaccine
This FDA site offers a description of Anthrax, related information, additional references and additional links to other anthrax resources.

World Anthrax Data Site
Site provided as a service of the World Health Organization Collaboration Center. This interactive site uses geographic information systems to let users access occurrence data worldwide.

JAMA: Anthrax as a Biological Weapon
The site features a Medical and Public Health Management discussion exploring Anthrax as a Biological Weapon. The stated objective of the site is to develop consensus-based recommendations for measures to be taken by medical and public health professionals following the use of anthrax as a biological weapon against a civilian population.

Anthrax imagery
This site includes images of anthrax bacteria filling a capillary in fatal infection; the epidemiology and clinical features of cutaneous anthrax (anthrax of the skin); a typical fully developed lesion on the skin; Pulmonary anthrax (anthrax pneumoni); anthrax septicaemia; gastrointestinal anthrax; anthrax in infected lung tissue; chains of anthrax bacteria from a laboratory culture.

Botulism

CDC: Botulism
This site provides information about Botulism from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; National Center for Infectious Diseases; Division of Bacterial and Mycotic Diseases. It features a very comprehensive FAQ section:

What is botulism? What kind of germ is Clostridium botulinum? How common is botulism? What are the symptoms of botulism? How is botulism diagnosed? How can botulism be treated? Are there complications from botulism? How can botulism be prevented? are public health agencies doing to prevent or control botulism?

Hopkins: Botulism
The Center for Civilian Biodefense Studies site features fact sheets with information and concise diagnostic criteria and Treatment Guidelines for Botulism.

Ebola

Viral Hemorrhagic Fever

CDC:Viral Hemorrhagic Fever
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention site provides general information on Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers, including fact sheets that discuss some viral hemorrhagic fevers that Special Pathogens Branch (SPB) handles. Additional sheets cover the four virus families from which the viruses causing the disease syndromes originate. Some of the viral hemorrhagic fever agents have been suspect for abuse in biowarfare/bioterrorism.
